SOLID SOLUTIONS:

If you've been into fitness, weightlifting or bodybuilding at any point over the last 20 years, there’s a good chance you’ve happened upon CriticalBench.com.

The website—founded by college football player and competitive powerlifter Mike Westerdal in 1999—is one of the internet’s longest standing strength websites featuring programs, articles, free reports and a popular YouTube channel.

In October, CriticalBench.com, with the help of head strength coach and content manager, Chris Wilson, began building a gym at their Clearwater Beach, Florida headquarters.

That’s where Body-Solid came in.

Wilson worked with Body-Solid dealer Bandit Fitness and began looking at equipment to put in their new facility. Wilson and his team were intrigued by Body-Solid’s new SPR1000 Commercial Power Rack.

“We thought the price was fair and (the SPR1000) offered exactly what we wanted,” said Wilson.

FAQs
Frequently asked question

Is the Body-Solid SPR1000 worth buying for a home or commercial gym?

Yes, the SPR1000 is an excellent investment for both home and commercial settings. Its 90-inch height accommodates tall users and overhead movements like shoulder presses and chin-ups that shorter racks can't. The 1-inch hole spacing on safety spotter bars adds precision and safety. Built with commercial-grade durability, it's designed to handle heavy, daily use — making it a smart long-term purchase for serious lifters.

What warranty does the Body-Solid SPR1000 Power Rack come with?

Body-Solid is known for offering one of the strongest warranties in the fitness industry. The SPR1000 typically includes a lifetime warranty on the frame and welds, covering manufacturing defects. We recommend confirming current warranty terms at checkout or contacting our support team, as coverage details can vary. This level of backing reflects the brand's confidence in the rack's commercial-grade construction and long-term reliability.

How tall is the Body-Solid SPR1000 Power Rack, and will it fit in my gym?

The SPR1000 stands 90 inches tall, so you'll need at least 8 feet of ceiling clearance — ideally more for comfortable overhead movements. Measure your space carefully before purchasing. The rear expansion also requires additional floor space to allow room for a spotter. Always check the full product dimensions listed on the page to ensure a proper fit in your gym or workout area.

What exercises can I do with the Body-Solid SPR1000 Power Rack?

The SPR1000 supports a wide range of exercises including squats, bench press, deadlifts, barbell rows, pull-ups, chin-ups, and standing shoulder presses. Its 90-inch height makes overhead movements safe and comfortable. The rear expansion adds space for a spotter, improving safety during heavy lifts. With the right attachments, you can further expand your training options for a complete full-body workout.

What does the 1-inch hole spacing on the safety spotter bars mean?

The 1-inch hole spacing means you can adjust the safety spotter bars in very small increments, allowing a highly precise fit for your body and the exercise you're performing. This lets you find the ideal bar height for a full range of motion without sacrificing safety. Racks with wider hole spacing force you to compromise your setup, so tighter spacing is a meaningful advantage for serious lifters.

Does the Body-Solid SPR1000 require professional assembly?

The SPR1000 can be assembled without professional help, but due to its size and commercial-grade weight, having two or more people during assembly is strongly recommended. Basic tools are typically required. Body-Solid provides assembly instructions, and many customers find the process straightforward. If you're unsure, hiring a local fitness equipment assembly service is a practical option to ensure everything is safely and correctly installed.
